Product Name: Oil Filter Powder ( food grade Magnesium Silicate for catering stores)
CAS No.: 1343-88-0
Molecular Formula: xMgO·ySiO2·nH2O
Product Introduction:
Magnesium Silicate is a fine, white, odorless, and free-flowing powder that is specifically manufactured and purified for use in the food industry. It is an inorganic compound, and in its most common form used in food processing, it is also known as Synthetic Amorphous Hydrated Magnesium Silicate. Food-grade magnesium silicate serves as an efficient filter aid in the treatment of waste frying oil, primarily functioning to purify and extend the oil’s usable life.
Specification:
| No. | Item | Specification |
| 1 | Silica (SiO2), % | ≥67 |
| 2 | Magnesium oxide (MgO), % | ≥15 |
| 3 | Free alkali | ≤1.0 |
| 4 | Soluble salt | ≤3.0 |
| 5 | Loss on Drying, % | ≤18 |
| 6 | pH Value (5% suspension) | 9.0-12.0 |
Typical Application Process:
Step 1: Pre-treatment. Allow the hot used oil to cool slightly. First, perform a coarse filtration through a sieve or cheesecloth to remove large food particulates.
Step 2: Slurry Preparation. Create a slurry by mixing the recommended dosage of Food Grade Magnesium Silicate (typically 0.5% to 2.0% by weight of the oil) with a small amount of the warm oil.
Step 3: Addition and Contact. Thoroughly mix the slurry into the main body of the used frying oil. Agitate the mixture gently for a specified contact time (e.g., 10-20 minutes) to allow the Magnesium Silicate to adsorb the dissolved impurities.
Step 4: Filtration. Pump or gravity-feed the oil mixture through a filter press or other suitable filtration system. The Magnesium Silicate forms a "filter cake" that serves as the primary filtering medium, capturing both the suspended solids and the adsorbed impurities.
Step 5: Result. The resulting filtrate is a clearer, lighter-colored, and purified oil with improved thermal stability, making it more suitable for continued frying or for use in other non-food applications (e.g., biofuel feedstock).
