Food Grade Magnesium Silicate (E553a) is a white, odorless powder primarily used to prevent caking in dry, powdered foods like spices and salt . It also functions effectively as a filtering aid in the food manufacturing process . This substance meets the quality specifications for food-grade products and is considered safe for use in accordance with good manufacturing practices .
